Investigation into Pyla area murder continues

Officers searching for clues on Wednesday

Police on Thursday continued their investigation into what appears to be the gangland murder of 40-year-old man in the Pyla area.

Giorgos Georgiou, aka Chiquito, was gunned down at around 8.45pm on Tuesday on the way to enter his house, located near the motorway exit to Pyla. He sustained two bullet wounds, one to the shoulder and one to the heart.

It appears that Georgiou was shot from a distance of around 130 metres, judging from a 7.62mm calibre shell casing found in the area.

Authorities were still looking for the second casing ejected from the weapon.

Police have questioned numerous individuals but no suspects have been identified so far.

The victim was allegedly involved in the gambling business.
