Separate bomb blasts in Limassol

A bomb caused extensive damage to a house in Limassol early Thursday.

The improvised high-powered explosive device detonated at 5.30am in a house in Ayios Ioannis belonging to a 50-year-old woman.

Nobody was hurt, but the device which was placed on the front veranda of the house caused extensive damage to the house.

According to police sources, it is possible that the perpetrators wanted to send a message to the son of the 50-year-old woman, who has allegedly been in trouble with authorities in the past, mainly for drug related issues.

Another bomb explosion detonated in Limassol at around 2.35am and severely damaged a car where it was laced, and the front of a house owned by a 52-year-old.

According to police, the device causing the detonation was also improvised and high-powered. The scene is guarded and further tests will be conducted.
