Man arrested in alleged knife attack

A 32-year-old resident of Dherynia was arrested on Monday evening after allegedly attacking several people and causing damage to a fast food restaurant in Paralimni.

According to police, the 32-year-old, who they said was drunk at the time, started insulting a 41-year-old woman with whom he had a relationship at the restaurant.

He was restrained by other customers, but then allegedly grabbed a knife and attacked a 51-year-old man from Paralimni, and the 41-year-old owner of the restaurant, without injuring them however.

In the process he caused damage to the premises of around €450.

After that, he allegedly assaulted the 51-year-old man again, hitting him on the head with a bottle before fleeing the scene.

The 51-year-old was taken to Famagusta hospital where he received first aid and was released.
