An auction with a cause

On the first day of April, come down to the Mantra Lounge Bar in Limassol where you will be able to bid on a number of artworks during a silent auction.

The art auction is being arranged in order to raise funds to send 13-year-old singer Cynthia Zietara to America to take part in the prestigious World Championship of Performing Arts competition (WCOPA). Zietara was chosen to represent the UK from thousands of candidates as a National Finalist at the WCOPA competition which will be held in July.

Zietara’s mother, Monika Zietara, who is organising the event commented on the auction by saying “like a real Olympic Games, all contestants need to fund their own trip and find their own sponsors to finance the trip, flight, hotel costumes, training, and entry fees.”

She also mentioned that WCOPA is the biggest event in the world among all such competitions, with contestants competing for the Gold Medal and over 50 countries participating.

The eight oil paintings to be auctioned off are by the singer’s father, Robert Zietara. If you manage to purchase one of these eight paintings you will have a great conversation starter in your home and you will be able to tell your guests that the artist also has works in galleries around the world, including America and Canada.

Robert Zietara’s favourite subjects to paint are portraits, horses and landscapes, and there will be many horses galloping on canvas on Saturday.

The event will be hosted by jazz singer Sarah Fenwick.
