Police on Sunday arrested three men and a woman in connection with the possession of 217 grammes of cannabis in Paphos.

Police were about to conduct a search of the house of a 27-year-old man in Paphos but he refused to open the door and was seen running up the stairs inside the house, the Cyprus News Agency reported.

After officers managed to enter the home they found the man in the bathroom upstairs allegedly trying to throw 12 grammes of cannabis into the toilet. The drugs were seized by police who also found another 205 grammes of cannabis and precision scales elsewhere in the house, which were also taken as evidence.

The man, and another three people who were in the living room at the time, were arrested to facilitate investigations.
