Remand for man who borrowed money and threatened lender

A 45-year-old man who borrowed over €160,000 since 2013 was remanded for seven days on Tuesday at Limassol district court for allegedly threatening his lender.

He was arrested a day earlier when a 67-year-old doctor reported the suspect to police, saying he had lent the man a total of €167,500 gradually over the course of three years.

When he asked for his money back, the suspect allegedly threatened the doctor he would harm him, his family and property asking for more money.

The 45-year-old’s lawyer did not object to the remand.
