Major suspect in waste scandal on his way to Cyprus

Theofanis Lolos, one of the main suspects implicated in the Paphos and Larnaca waste management scandal is due to arrive in Cyprus on Thursday, according to state TV.
CyBC sources said police investigators had on Wednesday met with Lolos at the embassy of Cyprus in Greece and would accompany him to the island the next day.
Lolos had an outstanding European arrest warrant but had expressed his interest to cooperate with Cypriot authorities.
He is the director of ENVIROPLANT, a firm assigned by the interior ministry to oversee the waste management projects in Marathounda, Paphos and Koshi, Larnaca.
According to state TV police investigators also met with governor of the Central Bank Chrystalla Georghadji to ask her for any information she might have had in her capacity as auditor general at the time.
So far 12 persons are facing bribery and corruption charges in the case, which is set to go to trial. Police investigations are ongoing.
