Setting hair to sound

Tomorrow Hair Etc magazine will be putting on a party you won’t want to miss, as it will be offering signature drinks, live music and – yes – it might just make your hair stand on end with all the excitement.

The party is a chance for the magazine to celebrate its spring issue and for us to get to know the team behind the magazine, while enjoying one heck of a party.

Music will be brought to us by the local band Sound of Thieves, local DJs Mpakallis and Tony Cusack.

Sound Of Thieves are an experimental electro-funk band, consisting of Phoebe Pope on vocals and Jan Bures on electric bass. The group was born from a vision of creating a full and varied sound, with the use of as few musicians as possible. They have managed to achieve this through their use of sampling, live-looping and live instruments.

The duo performs a range of unusual covers as well as original music, so get ready to have a very funky musical experience.

Mpakallis will be making things more electric with his turntable. He started DJing in his birth place, London, at various underground parties and hosting rooms in mega clubs. The DJ then took his spinning talent to a number of other countries before returning to Cyprus, where he performs at various bars and festivals islandwide, combining a mixture of tech house and disco sounds, along with some techno beats designed to get us grooving.

Continuing the party mood will be DJ Tony Cusack, who is famous for relentlessly spinning anything from freaky Chicago acid trax, dreamy Detroit techno, to 80s soul and boogie.

This is really a three-in-one musical party, with great drinks and a chance to meet the people behind Hair Etc.
