The art of looking at art

Sstill on until Monday is the solo exhibition by Ria Alexandrou at the Trade Bar in Limassol.

In this collection Alexandrou challenges the term ‘error of judgment’ and asks the viewer to experience full freedom of emotions and imagination while engaging with her art pieces.

The artist considers the misunderstandings of each viewer as creative, and accepts their alternative responses to the questions that her works raise, rather than assume such ‘mistaken’ audience views to be an error of judgment.

Through these art pieces, Alexandrou creates endless discussions regarding the ideas of space, time and form, while constantly questioning their importance in the context of a trivial material world.

She hopes that the pieces will prompt the viewer to sometimes look upon them with logical thinking and then at other times with emotional thinking.

Alexandrou was born in Greece and raised in Cyprus. She graduated from the Athens School of Fine Arts, and has participated in numerous exhibitions in Greece and Cyprus. This is her first solo exhibition.
Solo exhibition by Ria Alexandrou. Until April 18. The Trade Bar, 18 Kitiou Kyprianou Street, Limassol. Monday-Sunday: 10am-12pm and 4pm-8pm. Tel: 99-477887
