14-year-old in intensive care after car accident

A 14-year-old boy from KaloChorio is in the intensive care unit of Larnaca general hospital after the car he was a passenger in, driven by his 18-year-old brother, went off-course on Thursday night and overturned in a field.

According to police reports, the accident occurred at around 8pm in Kalo Chorio, when the 18-year-old, who was driving in a farming area, lost control of the car and it overturned, landing into an adjacent field.

Both were transferred to the hospital, where the 14-year-old was diagnosed with fractured breastbone and three ribs and a small hematoma on the brain and was admitted to the ICU. The 18-year-old was not injured, but was kept in the hospital for precautionary reasons.

The 18-year-old’s alcotest indicated he had not been drinking.
