Police nab drunk driver in Kiti

Police in Kiti in the Larnaca district nabbed a drunk driver sitting behind the wheel of his car after crashing into a lamp post in the early hours of Sunday, they said.

Officers received a call around 2.30am that a car had crashed into the pole and that the driver had fled the scene. However when they got there, they found the driver still behind the wheel and the engine still running.

The 32-year-old was given a breathalyser test that found he was five times over the limit, police said. He was also driving without insurance, licence, road tax and MOT since 2013.

He was taken to the Kiti police station and booked.
