The labour inspection department urged the public, especially vulnerable groups, to avoid venturing outdoors on Thursday due to the increased levels of dust in the atmosphere.
Because of the small size of the particles and the negative effect they might have on human health, the public, especially vulnerable groups – elderly, children, and people who are ill – should avoid going outside until the phenomenon subsides.
The department also stressed that employers must take all necessary precautions for staff working outdoors.
Workers were advised to use suitable means of personal protection.
