A €6.5 million plan to upgrade the Ayia Napa beachfront is starting to be implemented, Ayia Napa Mayor Yiannis Karousos announced on Wednesday.

“We will soon open bids for the project that includes pavements, a cycling path, a playground, walkways, piers and a square, beach volleyball and beach soccer courts and a skate park, which is unique for Cyprus,” Karousos said. “The aim is to unite the whole seafront of Ayia Napa in a unique way to benefit both guests and residents.”

“Our strategic plan is that within the next ten years, everyone can walk or ride a bicycle from one end of the beachfront to the other. The seafront of Ayia Napa starts from the harbour and ends at the Pernera beach,” he added.
