An 83-year-old British permanent resident of Ayia Anna, Larnaca, was admitted to Larnaca General hospital in serious condition on Friday night after being hit by a car driven by a 26-year-old woman while he was crossing the street.

According to a police report, shortly before 8pm on Friday the 26-year-old from Nicosia hit and injured the 83-year-old man as she drove her car along Faneromenis avenue.

Larnaca CID rushed to the scene, and an ambulance took the man to the Larnaca General hospital’s emergency room.

Upon examination by on-call doctors, the man was found to have a fractured collarbone, shoulder blade, and ribs.

He was admitted to the surgical ward, and doctors describe his condition as serious.

The 26-year-old driver, also injured in the accident and taken to the emergency room, was treated for minor injuries and discharged.

A breathalyser test on the woman gave a zero reading for alcohol consumption.
