Fire burns 10 hectares of scrub in Famagusta area

A fire in the Famagusta area on Tuesday burned wild shrub and trees and caused slight damage to a sheep farm, the fire service said.

The blaze broke out at around 12pm in the Milas area between Paralimni and Ayia Napa. It was put under control at around 2.45pm after it burned 10 hectares of wild shrub, cypress and eucalyptus trees.

The fire service used six engines, assisted by two more fire fighting vehicles from the forestry department and one from the Game Fund. Three water tankers were also used during the operation.
