Cyprus Cup final to have foreign officials

Last year's Cyprus Cup final was also officiated by non-Cypriots

Following a request by the two Cyprus Cup finalists, Apollon and Omonia, the Cyprus Football Association (CFA) has decided to appoint foreign referees to officiate this year’s final which will take place at the Tsirion Stadium in Limassol on Wednesday May 18.

According to unconfirmed reports, the officials who will take charge of the final will belong to the First Group of UEFA referees and not from the top Elite Group, as the officials in the latter group have been excluded as they will all be taking part in the Euro 2016 Championship that begins in June.

However, in its announcement, the CFA pointed out that as of next year Cypriot referees will take charge of the Cup finals.
