Registered unemployed figure lowest in 27 months

The number of registered unemployed fell 13 per cent in April, to 36,986, which is the lowest since October 2012, the statistical service said.

In April, the seasonally adjusted number of registered job seekers fell 12 per cent, to 38.902, compared to the respective month of 2015, Cystat said in a statement on its website on Thursday.

The drop was mainly recorded in the areas of construction, hotels and restaurants, and trade, where the number of jobless fell by 1,243, 1,074 and 737 respectively. The number of people without a job registered at the district labour offices fell by 719 in the area of manufacturing, 681 in public administration, and 396 in transport.
