Pensioner to be sentenced next week after killing wife

The sentence of 80-year-old Yiangos Katsaris, who pleaded guilty to manslaughter after he killed his 77-year-old wife in her Pervolia home in March, is to be announced on May 19, the Larnaca criminal court ruled on Tuesday.

Katsaris shot his 77-year-old estranged wife five times at her farmhouse in Pervolia in front of her domestic worker. They had an argument over financial matters and Katsaris pulled out the firearm shooting her.

Their son was at the scene who took the firearm off his father and called the police.

Katsaris is currently being held at the central prison after admitting to the charge of manslaughter.
On his way out of court on Tuesday Katsaris was verbally attacked by relatives of his wife.
