Kamares Festival promises a great family day out

THE KAMARES festival will be held in Paphos later on this month and will include over fifty stalls selling handmade and imported arts and crafts, according to organisers.

Anita Hopkins of, ‘In any event’, which has hosted the fete for the last five years, said that the family day out will also include a wide-ranging entertainment programme.

“This event is a lovey day out for all of the family and has been running for more than a decade. This is the fifth year that we have been involved and expecting hundreds of people to attend,” she said.

Entry to the event is free and a number of fairground style games will be available, helping to raise money for local charities. This year, charities and organisations taking part include, the Cancer Patients Support Group Paphos- CPSG, the British Legion and the Friends Hospice.

The entertainment will be provided by DJ Boycie, a popular local DJ, who will be playing music throughout the day, Colin Wright on the saxophone, the Young Stars dance school also will be performing, along with singer Melissa Williams and the Abba Tribute group.

Spa Tonic Fitness will also be giving a demonstration of Zumba Gold, said Hopkins.

The Waterwalkerz will also be at the event; the activity involves people getting inside large clear balls on the Kamares swimming pool.

“It’s so much fun,” she said.

The event gets underway at 10am and runs all day until 4pm. Food and drinks are available and provided by Kamares club.

“There is a dedicated barbeque area which will be serving souvla, chips, hot dogs and all sort of festival food. There will also be drinks and ice cream,” said Hopkins.

Last year the event raised over €1000 for local charities.
