April industrial producer prices drop 5.2%, manufacturing down 0.9%

Producer prices in industry fell a monthly 0.1 per cent and an annual 5.2 per cent in April, the statistical service said.

The producer price index in manufacturing also fell 0.1 per cent in April, compared to March, and 0.9 per cent compared to April 2015, Cystat said in a statement on its website.

In mining and quarrying, producer prices fell 0.4 in April, compared to March, and 0.7 per cent compared to the respective month of 2015, Cystat said. Producer prices in electricity, water supply, and recycling remained unchanged compared to March, after falling an annual 25 per cent and 12 per cent respectively.

In January to April, industrial producer prices fell 5.9 per cent, while in manufacturing the drop was only 1.6 per cent, Cystat said. In the first four months of the year, producer prices in mining and quarrying, electricity, water supply, and recycling dropped 0.3 per cent, 25 per cent, and 12 per cent respectively.
