Have you ever seen yourself as a Humphrey Bogart type, that goes up to the piano player and says the famous line ‘play it again Sam’? Well you might just have the chance on Thursday in Nicosia and on Friday in Limassol but instead of asking Sam to play it again, you will be asking Greek singers Lavrentis Macheritsas and Yiannis Kotsiras.
The pair have come up with this concept of playing their normal routine songs but livening it up by asking the audience to make requests. This audience interactive concert idea was firstly tried out in Nicosia this winter at Red music stage, and now the two alternative musicians are taking their show outside to Skali Aglantzia and the Limassol Municipal Gardens Theatre.
Kotsiras started his musical career in 1990 singing Greek folk songs and released his first album in 1996. He is the youngest singer to have performed Aksion Esti, a series of poems by Odysseas Elytis put to music by Mikis Theodorakis – a performance that Greek singers seek like actors do the role of Hamlet.
Machairitsas has been rocking away with his guitar since 1982. He has shared the stage with some of the most famous names on the Greek music scene.
