A 31-year-old man was arrested on Thursday as a person of interest in connection with the still-unsolved murder of a Moldavian woman in Larnaca in November last year.
The man arrested was described only as a Bulgarian national and a resident of Larnaca.
Moldavian national Daniella Rosca, 35, who worked as a beautician in Larnaca, was on November 1, 2015 found tied in the bedroom of her third-floor flat in the McKenzie area by two friends who had been unable to contact her over the weekend.
State pathologists concluded that she died from asphyxiation due to inhaling blood and a head wound, and placed her death 12 hours prior to being discovered.
Police had found evidence of a struggle at the crime scene. They were unable to track down the victim’s two mobile phones and I-pad or her apartment keys.
Some 10 days after Rosca’s body was discovered, police had arrested a 34-year-old gym trainer, a Greek Cypriot who was the last person to speak on the phone with Rosca.
He was later released without being charged.
