British High Commissioner to Nicosia Matthew Kidd has reiterated the UK`s commitment resolve the island’s division and has commended the two leaders for their efforts.
Kidd, who has returned to Cyprus after having served in the post between 2010 and 2014, was addressing an event to mark Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday.
In his speech Kidd “praised the two leaders for their efforts to solve the Cyprus issue and reiterated the UK`s commitment to this goal.”
Referring to the close economic and social ties between the UK and Cyprus he highlighted how he would like to contribute to make a reality UK hopes to develop further close ties with Cyprus and the Cypriot people, and help the island develop its prosperity and security.
This year the British High Commission gave a Shakespearean touch to the party as Britain and the world celebrate 400 years of the great bard`s legacy in 2016.
The High Commissioner thanked players from the Anglo Cypriot Theatre, ACT, for their contribution to enriching the feel of the party through their Shakespearean costumes and musical instruments.
