Tonight the local experimental electro-funk band Sound of Thieves and the reggae band The Healers will perform at Home for Cooperation in Nicosia.
Formed in 2014, Sound of Thieves – who are Phoebe Pope on vocals and Jan Bures on electric bass – came out of a vision of creating a full and varied sound, with the use of as few musicians as possible. The pair have managed to make this vision a reality through their use of sampling, live-looping and live instruments.
The duo performs a range of unusual covers as well as original music, and they all have one thing in common – the band’s inspiration from classical, jazz, funk and electronic music.
Joining Sound of Thieves will be the band The Healers, which was formed in 2011 by musicians sharing a great passion for reggae music.
The four-piece band enjoy the simplicity of just playing together, while also letting this very simple pleasure energise the audience to sing and dance along.
The Healers perform a wide range of covers of great reggae tunes by various artists and bands such as Bob Marley, Third World, UB40, Manu Chao, Gentleman and many more.
So get ready, tonight you could have a very funky musical experience.
