A fire at a Limassol petrol station on Thursday evening caused damage worth around €50,000.

The blaze damaged four pumps of the station which is located in Spyrou Kyprianou road before it was extinguished by the fire service.

It was started by two youngsters, aged 18 and 15, who went to fill up their moped with petrol.  After filling the tank they reportedly had some petrol left which they poured into a plastic bottle.

While they were doing this some of the fuel spilled to the ground.

According to the youths, the 15-year-old then lit a cigarette, which fell on the ground starting the fire.
