Police said on Monday they expected heavy traffic on the highways in the afternoon as people returned from coastal trips for the Kataklysmos weekend.

It warned there would be increased patrols on main roads.

Drivers can find out about traffic movement before setting off either through the police website, Facebook or Twitter or the police traffic app.

“We call on all drivers to be careful and patient,” an announcement said, adding that anyone who has been drinking alcohol should refrain from driving.
