Saloon car registrations up 49% in May to post-crisis high

The number of saloon registrations rose 49 per cent in May, to 2,572, compared to the respective month of 2015, which is the highest since May 2011, the statistical service said.

Around half of the new saloon registrations represented used, Cystat said in a statement on its website on Tuesday.

In January to May, overall saloon registrations rose 32 per cent, to 11,188, Cystat said.

In May 2011, when Cyprus lost access to financial markets, the number of saloon car registrations was 2,608.
