Police seize 33kg of cannabis, 1.5kg of cocaine in Limassol

Police on Wednesday arrested a 30-year-old Limassol man after seizing 33 kilos of cannabis and 1.5 kilos of cocaine.

The man was arrested after drug squad officers intercepted his car in the area of Hirokitia and found one kilo of cannabis inside.

A subsequent search of a second vehicle belonging to the suspect, in Moutayiaka, Limassol, yielded three kilos of cannabis and 1.5 kilos of cocaine.

Police discovered 29 more kilos of cannabis on a premises belonging to the 30-year-old in the Moutayiaka farming estate.

Officers also found €8,200 in cash and eight mobile phones.

The man, who was not known to police before Wednesday, is expected to appear before a court for a remand hearing on Thursday.
