A 57-year-old woman from Bulgaria was killed in Aradippou, Larnaca, on Wednesday after she was hit by a bus while trying to cross the highway.

Police said the incident happened at 4.40pm a short distance before the Aradippou industrial estate roundabout.

The woman had crossed the section of the highway leading to Nicosia and was trying to cross the lanes heading to Larnaca when she was hit by the bus.

Police said the driver had failed to see the woman.

She was rushed to hospital where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.

The circumstances of the accident are under investigation, police said.
