Two UN reports on Cyprus due in July

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon

Two UN reports on Cyprus, one concerning the Peacekeeping Force (UNFICYP) and one on the Good Offices Mission are to be submitted to the Security Council and UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, reports said on Sunday.

Both reports will be issued within the first ten days of July as the adoption of the resolution on renewing the mandate of UNFICYP is expected later this month.

The Permanent Mission of Cyprus to the United Nations has initiated contacts requesting that the reports “portray reality, avoid surprises and false or exaggerated estimates that coul cause unnecessary friction to the negotiations process”.
The same message has already been sent to Ban by Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides, according to CNA.
