File photo of CMP investigators searching for the remains of missing persons

A Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) exhumation near the occupied village of Mora in Mesaoria has revealed, according to the first indications, the remains of four Greek Cypriot soldiers.

In statements to CNA the Greek Cypriot member of CMP Nestoras Nestoros has said that one of the nine CMP teams conducting searches for about a month was following more specific information a Turkish Cypriot witness gave recently and managed to locate the remains of four people.

The teams are trying to locate other possible locations where missing persons are buried in the vicinity of the village, he added.

Alongside the remains the team also found metallic objects which are thought to have belonged to a vehicle.

The nine teams are working in eight spots, two in the areas controlled by the Republic of Cyprus and six in the occupied areas, Nestoros said.
