Three to be tried for Rosca murder

Larnaca court

Three men on Tuesday were referred to the Criminal Court where they will be tried for killing a 37-year-old woman in Larnaca in 2015.

The trial is scheduled to start on July 21.

Bulgarian nationals Daniel Slavchev,31, Plamen Pelov, 32, and 26-year-old Panayiotis Alexandrou face charges in the death of Moldovan Daniella Rosca, found dead in her apartment last November.

The three defendants will remain in custody until the trial.

Alexandrou allegedly orchestrated the event that led to the woman’s death because he believed Rosca was involved in the theft of €25,000 from his parents’ house after he had ended their romantic affair.

Slavchev and Pelov were to break into Rosca’s apartment and force her to hand over the money.

Entering the flat, Slavchev claimed, he saw Pelov, clad in a hood and gloves, holding a woman from behind.

He then saw Pelov move the woman to the bedroom, push her to the floor and repeatedly kick her on the neck and back.

Then, using a shoelace he found in another room, which Slavchev had also touched, Pelov tied the woman’s hands behind her back, and pushed a pillow against her face to keep her from screaming.

State pathologists concluded that she died from asphyxiation due to inhaling blood and a head wound. They placed her death 12 hours prior to being discovered on November 1.
