Queen’s honour for SBA senior police officer

The SBA’s head of criminal investigation department Panios Panayi will be honoured with the Queen’s ‘Overseas Territories Police Medal’ for his commendable service.

“Lieutenant Panayi who served for 30 years in the bases police was chosen to be included in this year’s awards list of Queen Elizabeth for his contribution to serious criminal cases that the SBA was engaged in,” a statement from the British Bases said.

According to the statement, Panayi said for him the choice was a surprise since he didn’t even know that it had been proposed to include him in the Queen’s honour list.

Panayi is the second Cypriot who will receive this medal after SBA police’s chief superintendent Giorgos Kiteos who was rewarded last year.
