Third public building arson in Paphos

Paphos town hall

Paphos police on Thursday were investigating an arson at the employment office, the third such incident in two days.

The perpetrator acted in the same way as in the two previous occasions – smashed the glass window and poured flammable liquid inside, police said.

Authorities said the building’s alarm sounded at around 3.30am. The fire went out on its own.

The attack followed those on Wednesday at the town hall and the social insurance office. Police had arrested a 38-year-old former municipal worker in connection with those incidents.

The fires caused little damage.
