British woman killed in moped accident

A 22-year-old British woman was killed in Ayia Napa on Wednesday after crashing her moped.

The woman, who worked in Cyprus, suffered head injuries when she apparently lost control of the moped and fell while driving near Ayia Thekla at 2.20pm.

Passersby notified the police and an ambulance rushed the 22-year-old to Paralimni general hospital where she died around three hours later.

The woman was wearing a crash helmet, the Cyprus News Agency said.

Famagusta police were investigating the incident.
