Obama and Tsipras discuss Cyprus

US President Barack Obama and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras discussed the Cyprus problem in Warsaw, Poland.

The two leaders had a 30-minute private meeting on the sidelines of the NATO Summit.

The Greek Prime Minister stressed the importance of a just and viable solution to the issue, based on UN resolutions. The solution, he said, must secure the withdrawal of the occupying forces and the abolition of the system of guarantees.

Besides the Cyprus issue, Obama and Tsipras discussed the Greek financial programme and debt and the refugee crisis.

Greece`s Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias and Defence Minister Panos Kamenos were present at the meeting. (CNA)
