Police investigating armed home invasion

Police are examining a case of assault, theft, and possession of offensive weapons following a report from two men who said they were attacked in their Nicosia flat early Monday.

According to the complaint, five unknown persons armed with bats, cleavers and iron bars burst into the apartment, attacking and injuring the pair, who were transferred to Nicosia A&E for first aid before being released.

They both received lacerated head wounds while one also bore two cuts in the leg.

The attackers allegedly stole various items of so far unknown value from the residence.
