Cinema takes to the streets

What do the lines ‘No-one puts Baby in the corner’ and ‘I carried a watermelon’ have in common? If you are a hopeless romantic and if you were around at the end of the 80s, then you will know – with confidence – that they were said by the main characters in the film Dirty Dancing.

If you just started singing ‘Be My Baby’ and ‘She’s Like the Wind’ then you won’t want to miss the screening of the film under the stars at the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Centre in Nicosia tomorrow night at 9pm.

The romantic story, set in 1963, is very well-known. Even if you haven’t watched the film you will know that it is about a young girl who falls in love with a dance teacher while helping him and his dance partner out of a tight spot.

So, for those who have seen the film over and over again, but weren’t around when it played on the big screen when it came out, this is your chance to have a bigger picture. And for those who have not seen the film before, grab an ice-cream because you might need it to cool down after watching all those intimate dance moves.

Dirty Dancing
Screening of the romantic film. July 13. Bank of Cyprus Cultural Centre, Nicosia. 9pm. Free. Tel: 22-128157
