Remand for Paphos drugs suspect

Paphos district court on Tuesday issued a three-day remand order against a 36-year-old man in connection with the illegal possession, use and intent to supply cocaine, as well as preventing a policeman from the lawful execution of his duty.

Police say that around midnight on Monday in Paphos they stopped a car being driven the man, who attempted unsuccessfully to run away on foot. After immobilising him, he resisted attempts by the officers to search him.

Eventually, following a body search, a nylon bag containing eleven grammes of cocaine were found in his possession. He was arrested on the spot and detained.

The man maintains the drug was for his personal use.
