Bar review: Sunset Terrace at Vrachia Beach resort, Paphos

A visit to the Sunset Terrace at the newly renovated three-star Vrachia Beach Resort in Paphos was a hugely enjoyable experience and is highly recommended.

The hotel, which comprises 30 studios and apartments has been transformed into a sleek, stylish and modern venue, and the Sunset Terrace, which is open to non-residents, does what it says on the tin.

Glorious views from the aptly named restaurant/bar, a drinks menu with a good selection of beverages and a well-rounded menu of snacks and more substantial meals are accompanied by professional service and relaxing ambience.

The Sunset Terrace is open to non-residents every day from 10.30am-10.30pm and the Touch Pool Bar, found on a lower level, from 11-30am-7.30pm.

Both benefit from glorious views of the sea and the hills of Peyia. Vrachia has been open for business for more than 20 years and sits on its own peninsula, the reason for its commanding views.

Comfortable sofas, as well as tables and chairs on the terrace, are often full of both hotel guests and locals soaking up the atmosphere or catching up with friends.

Non-residents are also able to take advantage of a ‘Happy Hour’ from 4-5pm.

This is not a huge venue, so don’t expect a buzzing crowd of hipsters, but if you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy a drink, possibly a snack, a glorious view and a venue where you can hear yourself speak, you won’t be disappointed.

The drinks menu includes teas, all sorts of coffees, cocktails (try the Vrachia Special), local wine and beers and a selection of soft drinks. Prices are reasonable and the food is fresh, well prepared and tasty.

A large swimming pool along with poolside loungers and umbrellas are available to non-residents during quieter periods, however ample tables and chairs are provided at the Touch poolside bar, which serves the same drinks menu as the Sunset Terrace.

Living in Paphos, Vrachia is one of those places you can forget is there but when reminded, kick yourself that you haven’t been a regular visitor. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the venue, off the main road in Kissonerga, is a haven of peace and quiet and the upgrades have been carried out with great thought and care.

A couple of events are planned for the coming months, including a cocktail party, the details of which will be made available through the resort’s Facebook page.
