Now more than ever we need solidarity among allies, among France, the Republic of Cyprus and the EU, the Ambassador of France in Cyprus René Troccaz told CNA in the context of an event to honour the victims of the attack of July 14 in Nice, held outside the French Embassy in Nicosia.
The event, organized by the Cyprus-French Business Association, was attended by French people living in Cyprus and Cypriots, who laid a few flowers and candles under the half-mast flag of France, indicating their support to the country.
Asked by CNA, the Ambassador of France said he was moved by the support of Cypriots, not only with their presence at the event, but also through the many messages that they have sent to the Embassy.
“These are certainly painful days for France,” he said, adding that “the world we live is very dangerous and for that we now more than ever need this support, solidarity among allies, among France, the Republic of Cyprus and the EU.”
The Ambassador, noted that this is very important. “It is not just words. It is something very essential. We protect values, a way of life, institutions, democracy. ”
Then Troccaz invited people to observe a minute of silence in honor of the victims of the attack.
