Thief caught red-handed

A 22-year-old-man was caught red-handed when he was leaving a shop in Kiti after stealing €300 and a wallet in the early morning hours on Thursday.

At around 3am police got a phone call reporting that two men had smashed the shop window.

When they arrived at the scene they saw a man coming out of the shop. The man, a 22-year-old resident of Strovolos, tried to escape but was quickly captured and arrested.

In his possession, police found a bunch of keys, a mobile phone, and a wallet. They later found the suspect’s car parked behind the shop.

The shop owner was called to the scene and found that the sum of €300 and a wallet had been taken from a desk drawer.

It is expected that the 22-year-old will be brought before the Larnaca district court later.
