The Rialto theatre has had a very busy summer with the eleventh Rialto World Music Festival and the Rialto Summer Cinema. With both events coming to an end, the theatre along with OPAP will host a musical tribute to the golden oldies of Greek cinema.
The concert, which will take place tomorrow night at 8.30pm at Heroes Square, will be performed by well-known singer Christiana Pavlou with the participation of the young singer Paris Paraschos.
The two singers – who will be accompanied by a live band – will take us back to a time when inspiration flowed freely and creativity was on the up and up. A time when Greek cinema gave us a whole bunch of now classic films that included some timeless songs that we have all hummed or heard from time to time.
Some of these songs will be presented on Saturday, including compositions by Manos Hadjidakis, George Zambetas, Mimis Plessas, Stavros Xarhakos, Mikis Theodorakis and Michali Sougioul. And music would be nothing without their lyrics when it comes to the great Greek cinema era. Some of the lyrics we will listen to are by Alekos Sakelarios, Nikos Gatsos, and Lefteris Papadopoulos.
Imagining and dreaming are free, just like this event that will remind us of a very different time.
