Man 23, dies in road collision

A 23-year-old driver was killed in a road accident in the early hours of Sunday in a collision with another vehicle in Nicosia.

The victim was named as Andreas Andreou from Lythrodontas.

The accident happened at around 1.15am when the car driven by the 23-year-old in the Anthoupolis area of the capital collided with a car driven by 34-year-old resident of Nicosia.

Andreou was trapped in the wreckage of his vehicle and had to be cut out from the car by firemen and though he was rushed to Nicosia General Hospital, he had already died from his injuries,

The driver of the second vehicle was slightly injured and was kept in hospital for observation. According to CyBC neither of the drivers was wearing a seat belt.
