Light aircraft incident on landing closes Larnaca runway for an hour

Flights at Larnaca airport faced delays, Tuesday following an incident involving a light aircraft which lost a wheel and a propeller on landing, without however causing any injuries to the two people on board.

In a written statement, airport operator Hermes said that “due to the incident which occurred at 14:30 on the runway of Larnaca International Airport, the flight schedule was affected for a short time causing minor delays”.

Hermes say the incident “involved small private light aircraft which had encountered a problem during the landing process. There were two people aboard the aircraft, neither of whom were injured”.

Flights were disrupted for an hour until the aircraft was removed from the runway with normal operations resuming at around 3.30pm.
