Partying the week away

All the beach cities will be pumping with some sort of beat over the next few days. Limassol will have the music of Russian pop mega-star Valery Meladze, Larnaca will be electrified with the beats of Jonas Blue and Ayia Napa will welcome the international superstar Craig David – yes he will be playing Ayia Napa for the second time this summer.

Starting off with Limassol, Meladze will be at the Dolce Club on Thursday, where he will perform some of the hits from his 27-year career – most of which have been written by his brother Konstantin Meladze.

Although Meladze went to music school to learn to play the piano, he decided to follow in his family’s footsteps and learn about engineering. It was not until his brother started playing the keyboard in a group that the singer found that being a vocalist could be his calling after all. The band made an album and it reached a producer who liked Meladze’s voice. So in 1989 he became the lead singer for the group Dialog and his brother wrote the songs.

The singer went on to win awards and work with a number of musicians. He has also dabbed about in film. With six studio albums to his name and having being called a meritorious artist of Russia, anyone who loves Russian music will surely be heading to Limassol on Thursday night.

Moving on to Larnaca, British music producer Jonas Blue – otherwise known as Guy James Robin – will perform at the Air Beach Club on Sunday.

Get ready to see what happens when dance music blends with pop, when Blue will be mixing things up and spinning them out with a new musical sensation.

Blue hasn’t been on the decks that long, but he has already seen much fame with his debut single, tropical house cover of Tracy Chapman’s 1988 single Fast Car.

The version, which features vocals by Dakota, peaked at number two on the UK single charts – meaning that it went higher than Chapman’s original, which went to number five. But the version’s story of fame doesn’t end there, it also remained in the UK Top 10 for 11 weeks, reached the number one spot on iTunes in Germany, Sweden, Australia and New Zealand.

But don’t worry, that is not the only tune you will be hearing over and over again, Blue also recently released a new single entitled ‘Perfect Strangers,’ so expect to hear that in the mix.

Ending up in Ayia Napa on Monday, Craig David will perform at the closing party for the Beach Cult festival at Makronissos Beach.

The superstar will again be presenting the TS5 set – something that started out as the most exclusive pre-party in Miami hosted by the musician at his penthouse home, Tower Suite 5.

His sets combine massive old skool anthems from R&B to Swing beat, and from Garage to Bashment to current chart-topping House hits. If you missed the man show off his ability to MC and DJ simultaneously last month when he hit the Makronissos Beach Bar, then you are in luck, he will be doing it all over again.
