Swedish tourist found dead

Nissi beach

A sixty-nine-year-old Swedish tourist was pronounced dead-on-arrival at a private clinic after being taken out of the sea at Ayia Napa’s popular Nissi beach on Tuesday.

Leif Per Georg Svedlund was spotted unconscious floating on the surface of the water and taken to shore by lifeguards, who unsuccessfully tried to revive him.

He was rushed to a private clinic by ambulance where doctors verified his death. The man was on holiday with his wife and was due to leave the island on August 12.
