The Lefkara Festival will be underway as of tomorrow but the party atmosphere will be pumped up on Sunday when two Greek singers, Myronas Stratis and Isaias Matiaba, will give a live performance in the village famous for its lace.
The two young singers, who are known for setting the beat on any stage their feet touch, have formed a very strong partnership over the last couple of years.
Stratis is what we would call a pop-rock singer. He started studying the piano at the age of seven at the National Conservatory of Greece and then went on to study classical guitar. It was only when he heard rock music that he made learning to play the electric guitar his goal. The switch from classical to electric happened on stage in 2000, and since then it has been rock ‘n’ roll all the way.
In 2006 he won third place at the Thessaloniki Song Festival with a song he wrote himself and in 2007 he released his first solo album.
Matiaba studied classical piano and took classical singing lessons from an early age. His musical talent led him to take part in the reality show Na I Eukeria (Here is Your Chance) in Greece, where he won first place and a recording contact with Universal Music. Since then he has worked with some of the most well-known singers on the Greek music scene. He also played in the Greek version of the musical Rent.
Part of the proceeds from the concert will go towards the Make a Wish Foundation of the Pancyprian Association for Children with Cancer and Related Diseases.
