Police raid illegal casino in Paphos

Two people were arrested on Thursday evening after an illegal casino operating in Kato Paphos was raided by police.

In an operation which started at 8.30pm and was concluded by 10.45pm, police say they sent an undercover member of the force to gamble on an electronic slot machine.

The officer paid the owner with marked €20 and €10 notes.

Other members of the force then raided the premises seizing twelve computer towers, which had been converted into electronic gambling machines.

The owner, a 38-year-old man, was found in possession of €205 in cash. He was arrested along with a female 19-year-old Ukrainian student who was illegally employed by him.
