Fire in Paralimni (update)

A fire at the Paralimni lake area has been put under control, authorities said on Tuesday.

The fire, which burned wild shrub and reeds, was brought under full control at 2.25pm, the fire service said.

Earlier, reports said there was also a power outage in the area.

The fire service said four engines were on site while a fifth was expected from Larnaca.

Two water tankers, two excavators, and one smaller firefighting unit belonging to the Game Fund also assisted in putting out the blaze.
